We are passionate about the beach, coastal living and the opportunity to share the lifestyle we love so much with our guests.
The Magical Bungalow is a “Beach Box” style bungalow built in the 1970’s and is just shy of 1000 square feet of total living space. The place was re-designed in 2016 with an open flow to provide our guests a modern coastal living experience all while maintaining its original bungalow charm. As an older beach bungalow the years of storms, wind and salt air have blessed us with some imperfections and quirks, that’s OK though it all adds to the charm and soul of the Magical Bungalow.
The space is ideal for:
• Small active families or groups of friends
• 7 people comfortably, 8 people if ya’ll get along well

•The location! – hear the roar of the ocean, walking distance to the beach (Please keep in mind, the house is located on a direct beach access with parking, at times it can get full. Most love the feel, others may not.)
Our guests love the “Great Room” with its vaulted ceilings that connects to the kitchen and front porch though french doors. On the right day and at the right times, with the windows open, you can feel the refreshing sea breeze pass though the home. Here you will also enjoy the “BigAss” Brand Haiku Fan in the living room that seems to have a hypnotic like effect particularly as the lazy summers evenings drift into night. The master bedroom with its spa-like private bathroom is our favorite room to stay when visiting, inside you can refresh and escape for a while with the extra large 16″ rain shower head and hand held wand.
Downstairs “Storage Room”-
The space is located on ground level, has a separate entrance and is not as upgraded like the upper level main living area. It was not designed as living space, is primarily used as storage and sleeping is not recommended.
Housekeeping Notes:
To us, a very clean bungalow is of the utmost importance for our guests upon arrival. In fact, our bungalows have always had very high cleanliness standards and though cleaning + inspection process. Recently, we have taken our cleaning process to the next level by implementing recommended CDC guidelines. Between each guest stay our beach bungalows are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized with EPA approved disinfectants on surfaces and common touch points.
Pet Friendly Guidelines:
•$25 per night for one dog (one dog maximum only)
• Some breeds may not be permitted due to insurance requirements
• Fee will be requested via AirBnB after your reservation is confirmed
We love dogs and are happy to have your four legged family members at our bungalows. Just let us know you are bringing your dog and the breed.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire home and property. For those, that enjoy clean laundry, like us, we have a quality washer + dryer set up. Most beach gear and amenities are stored in the garage and outdoor shower area.

We love our OBX bungalow, it’s a great house yet, like most homes it is not perfect and not for everyone. We respect that folks have different preferences and world views. If your looking for a unique place and local experience in a great beach town to relax, spend time with loved ones, chill out, cook and rest your head after the beach then the bungalow checks all the boxes. If you’re seeking a perfect, flawless home or are super high maintenance, this is not the place for you.
Check Out Etiquette: We put a lot of time and effort to deliver great stays for our guests. If we find deliberate damage, disrespect or lack of cleanliness during the check out inspection, you will be charged fee’s to compensate our cleaners and ensure the property is ready for guests.

Neighborhood highlights
The property is located in the Virginia Dare Shores subdivision “between the highways” of Kill Devil Hills, one of the first subdivisions platted on the northern Outer Banks around 1927. We are 5 lots back form the beach on a rare street with some of the ONLY public street parking in KDH.
It is about a 50 yard walk to Hayman Public Beach Access. It is a unique beach access with extra parking throughout the street, which during the high season can create a vibrant busy energy to the area. Most guests love it, but it is something to keep in mind for those looking for a quiet beach access during Summer months. It is possible to walk to many restaurants, the Avalon Pier and stores.
The neighborhood is a mix of vacationers, folks with second homes and full time residents.
During the right times of the year, sea turtles do nest in the beach out front, you can find large shells (like Whelks) and the surfing in the area can be epic at times! The OBX is known as the east coast “Wave Magnet.”
The sunset on the Sound side can be awesome and Hayman Park is just on the other side of Croatan Highway.
