Average temp 70 degrees year round, a wide selection of surf vacation rental sizes, types and locations, epic surf breaks, Mexican food and a laid back lifestyle is Mission Beach in San Diego California…..which is clearly not for all personality types. I even caught a good looking rainbow on my beach cruiser up the boardwalk.

The surf vacation rental in South Mission beach are distinct form the other surf vacation rentals in area code 92109 (Pacific Beach, North Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, South Mission and Crown Point) because of it’s tranquility. Anyone that has visited Pacific Beach proper know that the main drag Garnet is filled with all sorts of restaurants, bars and a great college vibe. For those seeking to keep it a bit more mellow and enjoy larger spaces, big spreads of sand and hit one of the most epic surf breaks in all of San Diego a South Mission Beach surf vacation rental will be a score.

There is surf and surf equipment rentals for all skill levels out front, however, for the experienced surf traveler the South Mission Beach Jetty Surf Break is one you will regret if missed. The South Mission Jetty holds a classic left sand wedge peaking just off the jetty channel. It breaks on a west or northwest and is ideal on a low to mid-tide. Its wall is rippable and the pocket sometimes barrels. The rock jetty wards off a south wind fairly well, and the wave can have good form when the rest of Mission is blown out. For more info on that check out WannaSurf for more granular info. This is one of my favorite waves in San Diego…so it makes for a ridiculous surf vacation rental location. Caution: Proceed with respect at this surf break, the locals can be righteously upset if someone is kooking out, dropping in or just acting a fool…Don’t let it be you who goofs….if you are uncertain about your abilities stay off to the north or find another surf break.

My surf vacation rental was located on Balboa Ct on the bay side, basically a 7 minute walk to the south mission jetty. The surf rental was a second level studio that had an incredible zen vibe, tons of natural light and windows, beach cruisers, outdoor shower, gas grill, very comfy living space, cedar paneling, cedar roofing (with a massive skylight) and all the needed amenities. Unfortunately, I did not get to meet the host, Laura, but here communication was right on point and she got me dialed right in. Check it out for yourself…Best suited for 1/2 people…Guy’s if you are considering a place to take a babe this would be an ideal move. I took a short clip of the surf vacation rental here South Mission Beach Surf Vacation Rental – Studio Review. You can book this rental on airbnb.com –> https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/2620322 .

Overall this was a great surf vacation experience, albeit, as solo mission….I am looking forward to staying with Laura at Zen surf vacation rental again in the near future.
