Can robot vacuum’s really clean vacation rentals?
After years of managing turn-over cleanings, of which some worse than others, of pet friendly vacation rentals we’ve learned a lot about what it takes to keep high performing vacation home Sparkling Clean.
With the goal of ‘constant improvement’ guiding our decisions, we’ve tried all sorts interesting technologies & cleaning products. Have you seen the Pet Hair Roller we use? Its pretty cool!
The first floor cleaning robot we tried, failed. It was on-sale, in the $500 range and it felt like it required a full-time babysitter. This robot was sent back to the shop!
After some more tests, we have found that floor cleaning robots can indeed be a valuable asset for both the visitors and manager! So the answer is YES.
What we have learned about floor cleaning robots?
Some guests love them and some get to try them for themselves for the first time.
We’ve learned that not too many people have had the opportunity to experience a floor cleaning robot in a home. In our places, guests this unique experience. It’s very nice and convenient, to simply press the ‘clean’ button and let the robot eat!
We’ve liked the performance so much, I purchased one for my Dad a person with a lifetime of experience in the facilities management business. Of course, he was initially hesitant to accept the gift. My sister, who lives nearby, tell’s me, “Dad is obsessed with this Robot you got him. He watches it with a big smile on his face, while saying, ‘This thing amazes me.’ Great Gift”

We’ve learned the floor robot can clean more effectively than traditional methods as its sleek, low profile design allow it to go under beds, couches and other furnishings that are hard to reach for the human.
Floor Robots Help Housekeepers
There are soo many items in our cleaning process it allows the housekeepers to be more efficient.
That said, its not a sub for cleaning things like stairs, couches, baseboards and other non-floor areas.
Floor Robots Are Not all Rainbows & Butterflies
While I truly wish the full functionality of a home cleaning robot exists, it does not yet!
The machines are not perfect, sometimes they eat a sock, chew a chord or something like this. Error messages will occur from time to time, I had to pull a screw out of the dock station to get Rosie going again.
You will also have to empty the dust and debris collectors, remove long hair from mechanical rollers/parts and clean or change the filters occasionally.
You can decide for yourself, we have decided that the benefits of having Rosie’s around is a good investment for us and our guests.

The reality is we LOVE Vacuums! We have found the ‘stick-style’ vacuums have worked best for us and guests. We leave the Shark Pet ‘cordless’ versions out for out guests, housekeepers uses them, but they always have a plug in option if we run out of battery.
